We started Benefits Made Great to build the firm we always wanted to work for. Small enough to know every client by name. Experienced enough to handle anything that comes up.

Built to Be the Opposite of the Big Firm Experience
Chris Porter founded Benefits Made Great after more than a decade watching the same problems repeat at large brokerages. Clients were treated like account numbers. Employees were confused at open enrollment and stayed that way. Brokers disappeared after the sale and reappeared twelve months later with a rate increase and a handshake.
Chris knew something better was possible. Not just a smaller firm, but a different way of working with clients entirely. One where the broker knows your team, answers your calls, and measures success by whether your employees actually use and understand what they have. That is what Benefits Made Great was built to be.

Our team brings 10 to 15 years of experience each in employee benefits and life insurance. We are small enough that every client knows us by name, and experienced enough to handle whatever comes up, from a complex claim to a full plan redesign at renewal.
At the head of the agency, Chris holds a Master of Business Administration and has earned top-tier recognition from several insurance carrier partners. What makes that meaningful is the way it was achieved: by putting clients first, not by steering them toward products that paid better commissions.
Outside of work, he gives back to the Kansas City community through nonprofit donations, volunteering, and fostering dogs through a local rescue program.
